• Conexant Audio Software for Windows 8.1 (64-bit) - Notebook.
• Conexant SmartAudio HD Sound Card - Enable Stereo Mix. My feeling is that for Windows 10, Conexant do not want you to use stereo mix so that to make it work. DRIVERS WIN AUDIO R05AD05W.

Saw this on another site and it works to fix the Conexant Smart Audio no sound on Windows 10 problem (at least on a Toshiba laptop) 1. Right Click Window icon in lower left.

I have a Lenovo G50-70 laptop with Windows 10. The audio driver is Conexant SmartAudio HD and the latest version available on Lenovo's website is 8.66.27.55. This latest version is installed on the system
The Laptop is unable to detect any external microphones connected to the system via the 3.5mm jack. However, it detects any external speakers connected via the same jack. Both the microphone and the speaker share the same 3.5 mm jack.
I have tried a number of troubleshooting steps, but in vain. I have listed the steps below and look forward to your kind help in this matter. The steps I have taken to resolve this are as follows:

Uninstalled all audio drivers in the system and re-installed the driver from Lenovo's website.

Disabled all audio enhancements.

Reset Entire Windows 10 Operating System, updated the operating system using Windows Update and then re-installed the drivers.

Tried with a number of other microphones to ensure the microphone isn't faulty.

Despite all these steps, It's not resolved. I look forward to you to kindly help and resolve this for me. Will be grateful to you.

What is the make and model of your computer?

The issue could be because of incompatible sound drivers on the computer.

I suggest you to check in the manufacturer's website if you have sound drivers available for Windows 10.

Computer: Lenovo G500 with standard (for these devices) specification.

I downloaded drivers from Lenovo's website (latest versions).

Sound of my computer was perfect but yesterday (after update i think) it crashed. I think that drivers are ok, but there is something wrond with Windows 10.

W10 is changing devices' options without user's knowledge.

I tried to find solution on the Internet but ther is only one statement - to check if drivers are ok. And this is not fixing the problem.

I don't know what is happening because my computer is working fine but after 3 or 4 weeks it crashes beacuse of Windows uptades.. It's not only sound.. GPU is crashing with the same frequency..

Did you make any changes to the computer prior to the issue?

You are experiencing this problem as Lenovo doesn't have drivers for Windows 10. I suggest you to download the available Windows 8.1 drivers and install them in compatibility mode form the link below:

Damn.. I don't want to be rude, but I wrote twice.. I have good drivers.. latest version from Lenovo.

There is problem with sound or GPU after every single W10 update.

I have tried to reinstall drivers 5 times yesterday and it finally worked.. 'till today. Right now i have no sound device in device menager.

Windows' tool for searching for problems with device found 'problem with sound device' - oh great.. i didn't know.

I'm really sorry, but my frustration is reaching the highest level right now..

I did nothing. NOTHING, and problem was fixed.. don't know why, don't know how.

OK, it is working for now.. But in the past there were same problems. I don't want them in the future.
